[Warning: this story contains major spoilers of the fringe of Friday final.] [Read at your own risk].

As if the universe of the fringe was step confused enough, the final left us with an unexpected surprise: Peter (Joshua Jackson) has never really existed.

We will travel in time, or rather forward, to discover how the dark future came to be:

After entering the machine, Peter land of 15 years in the future, where our world is torn apart. While initially, Peter remembers that he had travelled at the time, wherever there is no special fringe medical facility, it has fully integrated in this era.

Final scoop of Fringe: producers to address burning issues (including the "who will die?")

Peter - who is now a real agent and is married to Olivia, the head of the Division of the fringe - is pushed in a mission after the end of Dayers triggered a lightbomb in the Opera, a jet of nice at the end of last seasonwhere Walter (John Noble) and Olivia (Anna Torv) had left for the other universe.

The only person who can deconstruct one of the unexploded lightbombs - a device used on spots for soft to rip holes in the fabric of the universe - is, of course, Walter, who is behind bars since the machine destroyed the other universe 15 years agotriggering a series of events that have created almost irresistible in our universe cracks that fringe Division are trying to take distance with amber.

As Walter and the fringe Division try to break the lightbomb, Walternate plans to open the wormhole of Central Park, that strangely links to prehistoric times. This location is sentimental him because it is the location of the wormhole opened in his universe, erase everything and leaving Walternate, who left to our universe to collect an offer of peace, blocked.

As a last act of vengeance, Walternate lures Peter to an isolated cabin where he takes pleasure to tell Peter that he is going to make him suffer as he is losing his universe. It is a trick this time, although as Peter makes too late account that Walternate is a simple hologram and the real Walternate is Central Park shooting Olivia point blank in the head.

Walter claimed that a universe cannot survive without the other, so when they destroyed the Walternate universes, they have sealed their fate. "It was the day that is death", he said. He suggests that Peter go back into the machine, which will send him to 2011 as well, they can prevent their past me to make the same mistakes.

Fox renews Fringe season 4

Walter also realized how the machine parts were buried millions of years by the first person: Walter, himself, their Envoy through the wormhole of Central Park, which means that they have made these errors at least once before and areOnce again, attempting to overthrow their destiny.

We flash back to the present, where Peter, always in the machine, comes to joy to see Olivia alive, it merges the two worlds on liberty Island, where the machines are required to act as a gateway where they can work together to save the two worlds. As Peter tries to explain this, he was suddenly and mysteriously disappears in thin air! Immediately, Walternate goes on the offensive, once more raise the argument that Walter destroyed his universe, but Olivia says that they must all now work together. (Walternate notice argument was on the destruction of the universe, does not on the abduction of her son, many that any set in motion years ago).

To the exterior of the building, a group of observers met in note that Peter has already been forgotten by the group. Why? It has never existed! Once Peter fulfilled its duty to unite the two worlds, he disappeared. Yeah, that's right, it has disappeared! Peter was apparently created as a way to end: the universe to destroy or bring them together.
