ATLANTA - parents say former President of CNN Burt Reinhardt, a pioneer of television that is credited to help build the network global news, died at his home in suburban Atlanta. He was 91.
Cheryl Reinhardt said that his father suffered from stroke ischemic and is died Tuesday at his home in Marietta.
She said that her father has joined CNN in 1979 just before it officially launched. Turner Broadcasting founder Ted Turner appointed Reinhardt President in 1983. His daughter said that he remained with the company until his retirement in 2003.
President of the ex - CNN Tom Johnson said that, without Reinhardt, it is doubtful that the new station would exist today.
Former journalist CNN Lou Dobbs said mis Reinhardt formed his first contract in 1980, and "I just sense privileged to have known him.".
