Overview of the ticket: A $100-million-plus ' Hangover'

LOS ANGELES - will no evil head for "Hangover party II" this day weekend, with ticket sales North America should exceed the $ 100 million.

And contrary to the pain of the last day of remembrance, it should be no difficulty head holiday to Hollywood, either, with several films strong market likely to boost the total this year for one of the periods of film-going more busy year to well over 200 million of $. It would be up to $ 192 million last year, the level the more low in almost 20 years and may be the highest grossing non-English rival Memorial weekend 255 million in 2007 never-.

Warner Bros. "beginner"hangover part II"is the highly anticipated for the first opus released in 2009, what was to become the highest Box-Office R-rated comedy of all time." Bringing together the original distribution, including the Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis, director Todd Phillips has transplanted the pleasure in Thailand and took the R-rated situations to a whole new (lower?) level.

The film has already colleced Movies beginning Thursday midnight $ 10.4 million and will likely top the period of five days of vacation with far more than 100 million of revenue.

Cartoons have provided many of these success stories of the first quarter of this year, with "Gnomeo and Juliet," "Hop," Rango "and"Rio"all huge audiences search entertainment appropriate to the family of drawing." DreamWorks Animation of the "Kung Fu Panda 2" 3 - d of Paramount Pictures is the second opus of the franchise and follows the original of 2008, which received more than 630 million dollars in global sales. Tattoo prosecution not stall "Hangover 2" opening

A federal judge today ruled that "hangover: part II" opens in theatres Thursday, but said a continuation of the copyright in the face of Mike Tyson tattoo duplicated in the film would be allowed to go forward.

A trial opened yesterday in St. Louis, MO, threatened to delay the opening of the film, but experts say that the case in progress could still shed new light on murky corners of copyright.

"We are very pleased the decision of the Court which will allow the highly anticipated film the hangover: part II released the calendar this week around the world?". Warner Brothers, behind the film production company said in a statement.

This looks like a joke directly from the upcoming comedy - which has the tattoo on the face of Mike Tyson?

In reality, it is not a joke, but a question of serious and complicated law, today be challenged before the Federal Court. The artist that famous face of Tyson tattoo inked continues the producers of the film to copy the image without paying, a combination which could potentially delay the opening film and shed light on a new corner of copyright, tattoos.

Later in the 2009 blockbuster, actor Ed Helms wakes in Bangkok after a night of heavy drinking with a facial tattoo which closely resembles that of Boxer Mike Tyson, who also appears in the film.

S. Victor Whitmill, the artist who designed and tattooed Tyson faces in 2003, filed a lawsuit in Federal Court in St. Louis, arguing that Warner Brothers, the film production company in April, had violated its copyright.

"Mr. Whitmill has never asked for permission to and has never consented to the use, reproduction or the creation of a work derived based on his original tattoo," his lawyers argued in documents filed on April 28.

The reproduction of the Helms face is equivalent to "reckless copyright infringement" according to the combination.

While it might seem paradoxical that someone that the person whose face is tattooed holds the rights to this tattoo, by law, the right to reproduce the tattoo is Whitmill, his lawyer said.

Tyson did not conceal his face or pay Whitmill whenever a paparazzo snaps his picture, but if someone wants to reproduce the tattoo that they would have to pay the artist, with some important exceptions, lawyers told ABC News.com.

It is these exceptions that underlie the Warner Brothers defence ', said the Attorney for copyright Lara Pearce.

In addition, that the first sounds as a frivolous suit related to a face tattoo reproduced for a comedy, opens the door to many issues on the question of whether anyone can own a piece of someone to another bodyWhat kind of art can and cannot be protected, and when is parody impinge on someone is just to earn a living.

"This case is not about Mike Tyson, similarity of Mike Tyson, Mike Tyson the right to use or to control its identity," reads the costume. "This case is about the appropriation of the Warner Bros. art of Mr. Whitmill and Warner Bros. unauthorized use of this art, regardless of Mr. Tyson."

Whitmill a real case, said Pearce who also runs the blog brandgeek.net Act, but Warner Brothers has just as solid defence.

Warner Brothers said in a motion, he reproduced the watermark under the "fair use" provision of the Act and is used for the Tyson parody, which appears in the film.

A copyright must meet four criteria, which are intended to protect an artist losing share market to someone who steals their idea, said Pearce.

"" The first: is the Copier doing for commercial reasons or for non-profit and educational purposes? ".He said. "In this case it is commercial - film wants to make money - but the producers are not sell tattoos which will compete with the artist."

Review: Second "hangover" feels terribly familiar

It is difficult to imagine an attempt more foireux cashing in a second time "the hangover part II."

Seriously, it feels like the script has been reconstructed with the help of Mad Libs, with details only slightly different and vulgar replace those who have contributed to the original "Hangover" of 2009 become highest Box-Office R-rated comedy of all time (it is more than 467 million worldwide).

But a large part of the attraction of this first film was the novelty of the premise, the unpredictability of the adventures and the sense that we, too, were wandering in a second State, help solve the mystery of the debauched night before. Despite their sense of panic and throbbing heads, these guys were clearly an explosion, and they made us wish that we could have joined their. This sequence where the motley group of friends wakes up in a fog and surveys of the damage in a Las Vegas trashed hotel suite is a small piece of narrative, full of clever details and meticulous production design brilliant and effective.

Director Todd Phillips, who has also co-authored the script this time (with Craig Mazin and Scot Armstrong), apparently thought, too. That is one of many gags in the first film are repeated in "hangover part II.". Giving people what they want, it is one thing. Making almost the same exact film a second time, but move the parameter in Thailand, just... is that lazy? Arrogant? Perhaps a combination of both.

Instead of find a baby in their hotel room, the guys from find a stiffly, Capuchin monkey drug traffickers. Instead of waking with a missing tooth, dentist light maniéré of the Ed Helms, Stu character, wakes up with a facial tattoo. Instead of bursting into song at the piano add to horrible how the situation is, Stu bursts in the song with an acoustic guitar. And instead of having sex with a hooker with a heart of gold, Stu does it with... Well, we tell you. Suffice it to say, this is the Thailand, it is not that huge a shock.

Bradley Cooper is also back as de facto leader of the group, the arrogant Phil, as Zach Galifianakis: the passive aggressive counterfeiter Alan. Shtick of dark, off the coast of the compliance of the Galifianakis made him the star breakout of the original film, and while he gets more of the best lines here, it is even more frustrating.

Justin Bartha is long, too, but just; like Doug, the groom in the first film, he was missing all the time. Later, it remains safely ensconced in luxury seaside resort of the group, so side missing yet another night wild. While there is less of him, there is also more character Ken Jeong, the unpleasant, effeminate, gangster Mr. Chow. It was the lowest part of the first "hangover" and gets even more face time here, with no improvement.

They are all there for the marriage of Stu and the lovely Lauren (Jamie Chung) in the country of his parents. He insists he does not want the kind of crazy bachelor party consequence Doug who was married, but he gives and is committed to having a beer - in an airtight container - on the beach with his friends. To join them, it is the younger brother of Lauren, Teddy (Lee Mason), student of 16-year-old Stanford pre-medical and cello prodigy.

Of course, the guys all wake up in misery in a hotel of Bangkok (filmed in a tangible, filthy steaminess by Lawrence Sher), absolutely of occultation as to what they did the previous night. Once again. And Yes, the word appears in the script, as in: "I can't believe what's happening again!

We can.

"The hangover part II," a Warner Bros. Pictures release, is rated r for pervasive language, strong sexual contained y included graphic nudity, consumption of drugs and brief violent images. Length: 101 minutes. A year and a half stars out of four.
