Sarah Cranley, 32, of Chicago waited for his mother, who has travelled in Pittsburgh for the registration. Cranley said that she felt very lucky to hang the tickets at the last show and the prospect of Winfrey live did a not yet feel real.
"You think about how many billions of people around the world watching him and want to be here," said Cranley. "What are the chances?".
Mother of Cranley, Sally Mowrey, 59, said that Winfrey is a constant in his life when her husband's work transfers had his family move 17 times.
"It was something that I could, after watching Oprah," said Mowrey. "It was a thing that has not changed."
Fans said they went through the normal process of ticketing for final registration by submitting their names online. Some said that they have written letters explaining why they were Winfrey fans.
Best friend Winfrey Gayle King mixed with waiting fans and interviewed several with a camera phone. For her, the end of the show is bittersweet.
"I have such feelings on this subject," the King said fans.
The final of "the oprah winfrey Show" has remained a secret, even as Harpo Studios the publicised as a television event.
