Hollywood, elite fashion remember McQueen at the NY (omg) gala!

New York - a directory of elite and most coveted Hollywood fashion reached the red carpet in New York Monday evening for Costume Institute Gala benefit of the annual Metropolitan Museum of art.


Year this, "Alexander McQueen: Savage beauty," honored the work of the late Designer, who committed suicide in February 2010, at the age of 40.


"I miss him terribly, not only as a person, but as a designer,", said a visibly emotional Madonna, who was wearing a dress of Stella McCartney.


"I think that the business of fashion is a little dull without it and I loved its confrontational punk rock." I think that his drawings were brilliant. I think it is brilliant. And I hope it is fun everywhere where it is at this time. ?


Designer Rachel Roy chose her own dress for the event with McQueen in mind. She said that she took a more refined design to highlight this part of his personality.


"I wanted to show his more ethereal side," she said.


Several celebrities who attend the Gala met are escorted by designer who them dressed.


Fran?ois-Henri Pinault, Chief Executive of the conglomerate of luxury PPR and his wife, Salma Hayek, served as honorary chairs of the event. Colin Firth, designer Stella McCartney and editor in Chief of Vogue Anna Wintour were vice Presidents.


Others who walked the red carpet included husband Marc Anthony, host of the "American Idol" Ryan Seacrest with small friend Julianne Hough, Gwyneth Paltrow, Penelope Cruz, Jessica Alba, Fergie, and Sarah Jessica Parker, who wore the McQueen and Jennifer Lopez.


The successor McQueen to his couture House, Sarah Burton, who also designed Kate Middleton wedding dress, was also present


The exhibition "Savage beauty" will be exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, from May 4 to July 31.
