Francis Genie shows the dark side with new daytime gig

NEW YORK - Genie Francis is to find joy in a darker role on television during the day.

And outside since the end of the 1970s, Francis played Laura Spencer martyred on "General Hospital," half of the Luke and Laura super-couple soap. But in an appearance on "the oprah winfrey Show", in February, she mentioned that she would only return to the show if changes have been made to his character.

She said that she hoped that the producers of "gh" contacted him after that she made the comment. Instead, she received a call from Maria Bell, the sitcom producer and Chief screenwriter of "youth and the fires of love."

Bell had in mind a character, Genevieve Atkinson, who is the antithesis of Laura Spencer.

"She talks how she was tired of sorting to play a victim and play this character where things occur to them where they do really make things happen," Bell said of Francis. "I wanted to create a character who was really much more a mover and a shaker."

Francis liked the idea and signed to join the show, sending waves of shock between the SOAP industry. His first episode will be broadcast Friday.

"It's so freeing let your dark side shine for a minute, and when you make a scene when you have truly been evil, when the scene ends, you laugh.". ... "It is just fun," said Francis.

Bell has carefully weighed whether to add a new character.

"We already have such an incredibly strong - to add distribution a character is an important decision," she said. "" "". Many fans really just want to see their favorites. ... I knew that this would be an exciting addition to weave on the Web among all these strong people. ?

Fan of long date "Y & R" Ayala Rosenberg of Bay City, N.Y., explains the fact that the characters in the core series remain on front-burner is one of the reasons she loves the show.

"The main characters are still there." They are getting older but better better, "she said." "The acting is superb." I know (by Genie Francis), there are many years, on "general hospital." "I am sure it will melt in nicely because it is a pro".

Lisa Lewis of Barrington, Illinois, is a fan of "Young and the Restless" and "General Hospital". It is fine with Francis trying something new.

"I can't wait to see what it does and who it interacts with," she said. "I will not miss to see: Laura!

"Youth and the fire of love" was the drama day no. 1 since 1988, according to Nielsen.
