UK troops hold the repetition of the dawn for royal wedding (AP)

LONDON - hundreds of U.K. troops paraded through the empty streets of London to a repetition of the dawn for their ceremonial role during the royal wedding.

Procedure step Wednesday saw army, Navy and force air personnel in full uniform along the road that Prince William and Kate Middleton will follow this Friday between Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey.

The troops mounted the Household Cavalry escorted a horse-drawn carriage.

From around 5 o'clock in the morning, the troops practiced and timed their roles in the second for Friday - but without the crowd awaited the day celebrations. Organizers, said that the rehearsal went smoothly.

The venerable Abbey is closed to visitors on Wednesday and Thursday, in preparation for marriage.
